Opened in 2022 as a personal project by owners Michaela and Marco, Badia Hill in Badia was built from the ground up to embody a refined vision of contemporary mountain living with a bold, modern signature.
The Interior - The overall design blends brushed wood, raw stone and soft wool with a calm, earthy palette and discreet lighting. Every room and suite features floor-to-ceiling glass and curated furniture that gives each category its own character. The atmosphere is minimalist yet warm, with a natural quietness that makes the surrounding Dolomites feel even closer.
Rooms and Suites - The property offers just thirty-three spacious rooms and suites, divided into five distinct categories. All rooms are designed to maximise light, view and space, making them among the most generous in the region. The architecture frames the mountain panorama so naturally that the landscape becomes part of the interior.
The Rooftop Pool - The heated rooftop pool is open year-round and surrounded by a panoramic sun deck that follows the light from morning to evening. It is equally remarkable in winter, when steam rises above the snow-covered valley, as it is in summer, when the deck becomes a sunlit platform for slow afternoons.
The Spa - The spa is intimate but deeply restorative, offering herbal-infused treatments, a Finnish sauna, steam bath, Himalayan salt room and a cold plunge for true Alpine contrast. It is the type of spa designed to be enjoyed multiple times a day rather than saved for a single visit.
Dining - The in-house restaurant Porcino which carries a Michelin star, serves an elegant Alpine-Mediterranean fusion cuisine based on seasonal produce and local flavours. Dishes are light, creative and beautifully presented, reflecting the owners’ culinary background. Breakfast is à la carte with warm pastries, eggs cooked to order, fresh juices and artisan coffee served with Italian calm.
Cocktail and Wine Bar - The bar features a large open fireplace and a wide valley view, creating a setting for slow afternoons, aperitivo moments or an unhurried evening by the fire. It is one of the hotel’s most atmospheric spaces and a natural meeting point throughout the day.
Ski Facilities - There is a private ski room with heated boot storage and secure lockers, plus a shuttle service to the nearby lifts of Alta Badia. Guests have direct access to the renowned Sella Ronda circuit, making the hotel a strong choice for both skiers and winter hikers.
Dog-Friendly - Dogs are welcome in most rooms and suites. Pet guests receive cosy bedding, and outdoor paths begin directly at the hotel’s doorstep, making it an easy and scenic environment for walks.

What sets Badia Hill apart is the quiet confidence with which it presents itself. Nothing here is ostentatious and nothing feels staged. The hotel carries a sense of calm refinement that you feel the moment you walk in, as though someone has distilled the essence of Alpine living into a contemporary retreat suspended above the valley. The experience is less about grandeur and more about harmony, proportion and stillness.
The rooms are among the most spacious in the region, and the floor-to-ceiling windows turn the Dolomites into a living canvas. Mornings begin with slow light spilling across the peaks, and evenings fade into that unmistakable Alpine blue that turns gradually into night. The interiors strike a rare balance. They are warm without being rustic, minimal without feeling sparse. Everything is tactile, deliberate and restful.
The rooftop pool is one of the hotel’s defining features, not because of its size but because of its placement. In winter, steam rises against a backdrop of frozen ridgelines, and the silence of the valley below makes every swim feel almost cinematic. In summer, the deck becomes a sunlit platform with a full circle of light from early morning to late afternoon. This is where time loosens its grip and you simply float, suspended between sky and stone.
The spa may be compact, but it is exceptionally well judged. The heat of the sauna, the herbal scent of treatments, the contrast of the cold plunge and the softness of the relaxation area create a rhythm that resets the body with remarkable speed. This is the kind of spa you slip into more than once a day, not because of grandeur but because of proximity and purity.
Dining at Badia Hill feels rooted in this same philosophy. The chefs cook with quiet assurance, letting clean flavours guide the experience rather than heavy technique. It is modern Alpine cooking with Mediterranean finesse, light enough to enjoy every evening yet thoughtful enough to linger in the memory. Presentation is elegant, but never theatrical. This is cuisine that belongs to its landscape.
Breakfast deserves special attention. An à la carte morning service, delivered with gentle pacing and an unhurried tone, creates the feeling that you are being looked after rather than processed. There is something deeply restorative about starting the day with good coffee, warm pastries, and sunlight over the mountains without the bustle of a buffet line.
The bar, centred around its large fireplace, is one of those spaces that becomes part of your daily rhythm. It is where afternoons naturally stretch into evenings, where conversations drift, and where the view over the valley does half the work. It is modern yet soulful, designed for lingering rather than leaving.
One of the strengths of Badia Hill is how effortlessly it connects indoor and outdoor life. Step outside and you are moments away from trails, crisp air and wide horizons. In winter, the shuttle to the lifts is quick and unobtrusive, placing you close to the action while allowing you to retreat into silence at any moment. This balance between seclusion and access is rare in a region as popular as Alta Badia.
The hotel’s dog-friendly approach is another quietly remarkable touch. Pets are genuinely welcomed rather than tolerated, with comfortable bedding and natural surroundings that make walks part of the daily pleasure. For many guests this is the detail that turns a good hotel into the right hotel.
But perhaps the most compelling quality of Badia Hill is how it feels after the first day. Many hotels require time to settle into. This one does not. You find yourself relaxing into its rhythm almost immediately. Corridors feel familiar, staff seem to intuit your preferences, and mornings become unhurried rituals rather than schedules. There is a sense of belonging that arrives early and stays.
Badia Hill is a place for travellers who appreciate beauty without excess, peace without isolation and design that enhances rather than distracts. It is modern mountain living at its most refined, a hotel that feels part sanctuary, part hideaway and part home. You do not simply stay here. You return to it, even long after you have left.
