Hotel-restaurants sometimes suffer from the presumption that they are ‘added’ to the hotel as a service that should be provided for the guests instead of really taking pride in creating a nice place to eat. For Hotel Cordée des Alpes this is certainly not the case. The hotel takes pride in what they do and this also goes for the hotel’s restaurant called La Cordée. Besides some impressive awards, the cuisine can be considered to be one the best in Verbier and its surroundings. AlpineBooker sat down and tried the entire menu! It took us a couple of days but it was worth it. The food at Restaurant La Cordée can be enjoyed with a wide selection of fine wines. The impressive winefridge which stretches out over a length of 4 meters, boasts a great selection of local-, Italian- and French chateaux. For wine paring recommendations the staff is very capable of advising you to choose the perfect wine that goes with it. Actually the entire staff really stands out at Restaurant La Cordée. They are well trained, have great knowledge of what they are preparing and serving and maybe most important... everything comes with a sincere smile!

What strikes us the most is that the hotel comes with a very casual yet stylish atmosphere attracting not only hotel guests but also ‘local’ tourists with a good sense for where to get the best food around.

This creates a lively and vibrant atmosphere that perfectly goes hand in hand with the interior. Imagine cosy booths for 6 people, large round tables and some 2 seaters with chair and sofa. Furthermore, the dining room is filled by a huge bar which is the heart of the restaurant. The lovely wooden panels, dark stylish paintwork and lighting really gives restaurant La Cordee an extra nice touch. Some dishes you should try are the vegetables from the ‘Josper’ oven that adds a very delicate smokey flavour, the steak 'Tomahawk' (Cote de Boeuf) and the ‘Big Mac' for desert which is a huge macaron with filled delicious cream in-between.
