History & Atmosphere

• Opened in 1913, Gstaad Palace remains family-run and has retained much of the character that made it an icon of Alpine hospitality. Grand public rooms, traditional service and generations of returning guests create an atmosphere that feels genuinely historic rather than recreated.

Rooms & Suites

• The hotel offers 90 individually styled rooms and suites ranging from cosy Alpine rooms to the spectacular 240 m² Penthouse Suite. Accommodation combines classic Palace character with contemporary Alpine details, while the best categories enjoy balconies and panoramic views across Gstaad and the surrounding mountains.

The Penthouse Suite

• At 240 m², the Penthouse Suite sits at the top of the hotel with 360-degree views across the mountains and valley. A 150 m² rooftop terrace provides extraordinary outdoor space and up to fourteen hours of mountain sunshine during the height of the season.

Dining

• Gstaad Palace offers six restaurants ranging from elegant international dining to Italian cuisine and traditional Swiss specialities. Le Grand is the classic Palace dining room, while Le Grill combines fine dining with an open kitchen and has been awarded 16 GaultMillau points.

La Fromagerie

• Hidden inside a former Second World War bunker, La Fromagerie is one of the hotel’s most distinctive restaurants. Swiss fondue, raclette and the Palace’s famous truffle fondue are served in an intimate Alpine setting with a history unlike any conventional fondue restaurant.

Gildo’s Ristorante

• Gildo’s brings Italian warmth to the Swiss Alps with traditional Italian dishes and a relaxed atmosphere. It has long been one of the Palace’s most popular restaurants with both hotel guests and returning Gstaad regulars.

Palace Spa

• The 1,800 m² Palace Spa combines local Alpine materials with extensive wellness facilities. Guests have access to an indoor pool, outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna and steam areas, hammam, relaxation garden, treatment rooms, private spa suite and a broad selection of massages and beauty treatments.

The Indoor Pool

• The Palace indoor pool is a piece of film history in its own right. It appeared in the 1975 film The Return of the Pink Panther and remains one of the hotel’s most recognisable facilities, with water maintained at approximately 29°C.

GreenGo Club

• Opened in 1971, GreenGo is one of Gstaad’s legendary nightclubs. Its original 1970s-inspired interior remains part of its appeal, while resident and international DJs keep it firmly at the centre of Gstaad nightlife during the winter season.

Families

• Gstaad Palace has a strong family programme centred around Sammy’s World. The Kids Club welcomes children aged 5 to 12, with selected activities also available for younger children when accompanied by an adult. Seasonal activities, children’s entertainment and dedicated spa treatments make the Palace unusually family-friendly for such a traditional grand hotel.

Skiing

• Gstaad Palace provides easy access to the wider Gstaad ski region, with hotel shuttle services connecting guests with Gstaad village. The surrounding destination offers multiple ski areas including Wispile, Eggli, Wasserngrat and Glacier 3000.

Summer

• During summer, tennis, hiking, cycling and golf take centre stage. The Palace has its own tennis courts, e-bikes are available for exploring the surrounding valleys and guided hikes make the hotel an excellent base for discovering the Saanenland.

Walig Hut

• For something completely different, the Palace operates the historic Walig Hut dating from 1783. High in the mountains, guests can enjoy fondue prepared over an open fire, traditional Alpine meals or even spend a night in the hut surrounded by nothing but mountains and cowbells.

Location

• Gstaad Palace stands above the village in one of the destination’s most prominent positions. The centre of Gstaad is only minutes away, and the hotel operates a complimentary shuttle service between the Palace and the village.
